From the recording Too old to be a Rockstar

This is a light-hearted, humorous look at my music story, relating to my life of performing
and song writing, almost a nostalgic look, at the same time laughing at myself.
Featuring the harmonica playing of Tamworth’s Lawrie Minson to help drive the beat,
lyrics that tell a true story. My sister said to me "You're too old to be a Rockstar" but that
can't be true. You're never too old to be a rockstar. This is an audience favourite at live performances.
Most people can relate in one way or another.
So, take a listen and a laugh at my expense.

Lyrics

Too old to be a Rock star It’s not like your young and having fun when you were 23
Told to be a rockstar, That just can’t be true Cos I’m standing here on a stage playing to you

This all started in 74 when I was just 13 years old
I joined a band called FRAIM playing old time rockin roll
Like Chuck Berry the Rolling Stones And my oldies lent a hand
One night I came home rolling drunk and that was the end of the band

Too old to be a Rock star It’s not like your young and having fun when you were 23
Told to be a rockstar, That just can’t be true Cos I’m standing here on a stage play

For a couple of years in a band called mirrors I played around Melbourne town
Doin gigs at pubs and parties laying our music down.
I guess that I was just too young and I didn’t care
But at least I was skinny then and had all my own hair

Too old to be a Rock star It’s not like your young and having fun when you were 23
Told to be a rockstar, That just can’t be true Cos I’m standing here on a stage playing to you

For 30 years you know I hardly even played my old guitar
Then one Saturday night we were jamming in Steve’s backyard
With Pete and G and Tony T we formed Bohemian Rogue
The only trouble now is we’re too old to take it on the road.

Too old to be a Rock star It’s not like your young and having fun when you were 23
Told to be a rockstar, That just can’t be true Cos I’m standing here on a stage playing to you

When I’m old sittin on my porch in my big old Rockin chair
And the grandkids say Hey POP what cha doin up there,
I said I’m sitting back and remembering when I travelled all around the word
Playing my songs and rock n roll to all the boys and girls

Too old to be a Rock star It’s not like your young and having fun when you were 23
Told to be a rockstar, that just can’t be true Cos I’m standing here on the stage playing,
All the songs you know I’m singing and I’m so happy to be here with you.
